As a veteran-founded company serving the military and government, we set out to solve a problem: hotels and on-base lodging ≠ extended stays.
The Problem:
Mini-fridges. Microwave meals. No kitchen. Coin-operated communal laundry down the hall. No living room to stretch out and unpack.
The Solution:
Stay in a furnished apartment or condo in Honolulu for the same rate as a Commercial Travel Office (CTO) booked hotel room or base lodging facility.
TDY Stay was born out of a need to provide better housing for military service members and government employees. We also provide furnished Honolulu corporate housing accommodations for companies needing extended stay housing in Hawaii.

Building a Better Option
The Early Years
In 2005, the website's first version, under a different domain name, was as tacky as a holiday sweater. Thankfully our founder's web design skills improved. In 2009, our company rebranded to reflect a broader approach to the extended-stay industry, and the company expanded into Hawaii with the acquisition of TDY Lodging.
Momentum & Growth
As the platform matured, TDY Stay continued to strengthen its offerings to match what travelers were asking for: full kitchens, not just microwaves; in-unit laundry, not coin-operated facilities; and space to relax while serving away from home.

What started over 20 years ago has evolved into the best furnished housing provider for Military, government, and corporate travel to Hawaii.

Meet the Founder
Matt Foster has over 20 years of real estate experience managing furnished housing for the Military and government travel community.
As an Army Veteran, Matt previously served as a Commissioned and Non-Commissioned Officer. Matt served on combat deployments with the 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment during Operation Enduring Freedom, and as an Intelligence Officer on a National Police Transition Team in Iraq.
Real estate has been a lifelong passion for Matt, going back to childhood days of playing Monopoly with friends and family. As a licensed Hawaii real estate agent with SC Realty LLC in Honolulu, Matt enjoys buying and selling residential real estate and managing rental properties.

TDY stands for Temporary Duty (sometimes called Temporary Duty Assignment) and is a common U.S. military and government term for official travel away from your normal duty station for a limited period of time. A TDY can include things like training, conferences, mission support, inspections, or other short-term work requirements. Unlike a permanent change of station (PCS), TDY is temporary and you generally return to your home unit/office when the assignment ends. TDY travel may be funded by the government and can involve authorized expenses such as transportation, lodging, and per diem, depending on your orders and agency policies. If you’re unsure whether your trip qualifies as TDY, check your travel orders or contact your unit/agency travel office.
